Job description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provide a consultative approach with business users, asking questions to understand the business need and deriving the data flow, logical and physical data models based on those needs
Responsible for leading the architectural development of Project/Metadata and reporting framework
Experience with Dimensional, Canonical, Rational and Physical data modeling
Develops long term portal roadmap and architectures, designs and builds the portal framework per the roadmap
Works with Business Analysts to document analytic requirements and translates into technical solutions
Works with the Data Warehouse Architect to perform source system analysis, identification of key data issues, and data profiling
Assists in ETL design, development, optimization, and support
Coordinates with Project Managers and participates in project planning
Works with business partners to review prototypes and develop iterative revisions
Leads coordination of the QA test process and migration of objects through the change control process
Oversees and performs troubleshooting and provides resolutions to reporting issues

Desired Skills and Experience

Minimum of 10 years of experience designing large scale data models for data warehouse environments
Diverse experience with database technologies including MPP applicances (Teradata, Netezza, etc.)
Strong experience with large data sets (>50TB)
10 years of Data Warehouse experience including demonstrated strong Logical, Canonical, Rational, Dimensional and Physical Data Modeling skills
Knowledge and appreciation of business concepts and requirements
Ability to apply policies and procedures to solve every day and/or complex company issues
Ability to gather business requirements, perform analysis and establish/recommend a data integration architecture
Ability to work in a team environment
Extensive background in database systems along with a strong knowledge of SQL
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Experience with agile/scrum is valuable
Experience with data modeling and data virtualization tools
Ability to exercise initiative, problem-solving and decision-making skills
Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a teamwork-oriented environment
Superior interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to be both directive and collaborative
Ability to travel 25%
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or comparable job-related experience is required

Job Summary:
The Business Intelligence software developer will work with a team to promote the expansion of a global data warehouse and enterprise business intelligence tools. Developing enterprise business intelligence solutions (e.g. Dashboards, reports etc.) in support of EDW and other data customers. Developing or enhancing best practices approaches for business intelligence solutions.
Training and guiding internal customers of the data warehouse and other data sources to maximize their self-empowerment and self-sufficiency in using business intelligence tools to query, report on and analyze their data. Debug application or data content related issues. Developing new, or converting existing legacy systems into business intelligence applications fully leveraging new corporate business intelligence tools and deploying best in class solutions.

Experience Required:
3+ years experience with Business Objects (creation)
2+ years additional experience in other BI tools or prior BOBJ versions
1 year of experience with latest BOBJ product release or BOBJ XI R2
Development experience with Business Objects Xcelsius highly desirable
Strong SQL skills essential. Oracle PL/SQL skills highly desirable
Good presentation skills, experience with training users on BI tools &
solutions a strong plus
Java and Java Scripting (JSP) and fluid with Unix environments highly desirable.
Strong business and technical analysis skills
Experience with data mart/warehouses and dimensional data models required
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Rapidly absorb complex business questions and translate these into clear technical requirements, building these into effective BI solutions

Education:
Bachelors Degree in a technology related discipline

Certifications helpful, but not required
